Maa Durga is the divine universal mother; she is the force behind all creation, preservation and destruction. Maa Durga was formed by combining the powers of Lord Shiva, Lord Vishnu and Lord Brahma to defeat demon Mahishasura. The name Durga means invincible in Sanskrit. Goddess Durga is worshipped for courage, success and prosperity. Goddess Durga symbolises strength, morality and protection. Maa Durga is the destroyer of sin and protector of morality. Maa Durga is known as the Mother of the Cosmos with infinite power to protect her devotees from all kinds of destructive forces. Goddess Durga has many names like Sati, Parvati, Gauri, Ambika, Amba, Shakti, Bhavani, Bhadrakali and Kalika and symbolises Mahamaya, Maha meaning Great and Maya meaning illusion.
